The event was hosted by Loreen Arbus, Disabilities Rights Activist/Producer/Philanthropist and the first woman to head up programming for a major U.S. television network, at her home in New York City.
The panelists discussed some of the unique social, political, and economic challenges woman are facing and discussed ways in which we can collectively identify and provide the kinds of support women need while enjoying musical performances by BETTY and Third World. One of the first to implement the program was The Women’s Academy of Excellence, a high school for girls in the Bronx, adopted by Grammy Award-winning singer/songwriter Mary J. Blige. |
