Tuesday night at Doubles in the Sherry Netherland, Cynthia Lufkin and Dr. Marisa Weiss, President and Founder of Breastcancer.org hosted a reception for Kelly Corrigan on the day of the release of her new book, Lift.

This is Ms. Corrigan's second book. Her first The Middle Plac, chronicaled her experience with breast cancer and was on the NYTimes Bestseller List for 24 weeks. There have been almost 5 million views of her video "Transcending" on YouTube.
Among the guests was Rochelle Hirsch whose book Lumps and Bumps was written to introduce the topic of breast cancer to chlldren in a non-threatening manner; also Geralyn Lucas who wrote Why I Wore Lipstick to My Mastectomy; Maisa Accocella Marchetto, author of The Cancer Vixen and Lee Woodruff who wrote In an Instant and Perfectly Imperfect: A life in Progress.

Breast cancer has become so common in our country most of us know someone and perhaps many women who have had it and survived it. This reception was a kind of recognition of those women who've survived and lent a hand to those women who have been afflicted.
